CA for the Arts and CA Arts Advocates extend their heartfelt congratulations to Governor-elect Xavier Becerra on his historic election as California’s first Latino governor. As a son of a working-class family with deep roots in California’s immigrant communities, Governor-elect Becerra’s journey reflects the leadership and aspirations of generations of Californians. His career in public service, including representation in Congress, service in the Obama administration as Secretary of Health and Human Services, and tenure as California’s Attorney General, brings deep experience to this next chapter of our state’s leadership.

California’s cultural diversity is one of its greatest strengths. As our state continues to evolve and innovate, we look forward to working with Governor-elect Becerra and his administration to advance and support California’s creative workforce, strengthen the arts and culture sector, and ensure that the diversity of our communities is celebrated and valued statewide.
