CAA statement on the May revise released May 14, 2026
Sacramento, CA — “We are deeply disappointed by the lack of investment in the arts in today’s May Revise,” said Julie Baker, CEO of CA Arts Advocates. “Our organization continues to advocate for $50 million for the state arts agency, the California Arts Council, and $40 million through the California Office of the Small Business Advocate for the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund.
“At a time when the state budget is benefiting from the AI boom, California must also invest in human creativity — the artists, cultural workers, and community-based organizations that strengthen our economy and bring our communities together. We are counting on our legislative champions to ensure this critical funding is included in the final budget.”
